Android 365: Day Forty-Three

Yes, I bet it would look better if the bottle was full. But if you've tried this rum before, you'll know why it's not ;-)

It's distilled from sugar cane, whereas most runs are made from molasses. This rum just skips the molasses step and gets on with the distilling process immediately.

Of the sugar cane runs this is one of my favorites. I've tried a couple of the more expensive ones but have found I don't like them as much as I like 10 Cane or the Mt. Gay Sugar Cane Rum. 10 Cane averages about $35 for a 750... wait, what is this? A rum blog?

Ok, anyway, here's the picture. If you want to know more about rum or want some suggestions on ones to try, just leave a comment.

Here's another for today. We had a little visitor this evening. Liam was pretty excited about the frog. He kept saying "Gah! Gah!" and then when I didn't answer him for a second... he'd get louder... "Gah!! GAH!!!!" "Yes Liam, that's a frog." He'll get there one day :-)

Android 365: Day Forty-Two

This is near the airport I took the photos of the plane at the other day. It's a REALLY old church and there's other old buildings around it. It's a cool area.

Android 365: Day Forty-One

Chase Jarvis calls these kinds of pictures "Disposable Heroes." A photo that under normal circumstances would be thrown away or deleted. One that was taken by accident or something got in the way, in this case... the shutter was accidentally pressed. However, there's just something about the photo that is good enough to keep. I'm not exactly sure what it is about this one, but I like it. Maybe it's the little area that's almost in focus or the implied movement in the foreground. Whatever it is, I like it and it's Day Forty-One.

We took a drive into the store and on the way home I was in the passenger seat. I wasn't entirely happy with the photo for today, being as it was an accident and all. So, I took a few on the drive home as Meagan was at the wheel.

Android 365: Day Forty

All the cookin' ladies, all the cookin ladies', all the cookin' ladies, all the cookin' ladies. Now put your hands up, oh oh oh uhh oh oh oh...

Or cookin' guys, although I haven't used this mixer yet, even though I do like to cook... but wait... this is baking isn't it. Dang it!

All the bakin' ladies, all the bakin' ladies (and guys), all the bakin'... ok just kidding, I'm done!

Here's day 40.

Android 365: Day Thirty-Nine

Day Thirty-Nine, I'm over 1/10th of the way there! I was thinking that at the end of this I'll put together a book of all the images. At first I was worried I might not make it to the end, but as I've said before, it's getting easier and easier. I'm really enjoying the challenge.

Today, I was in Lawrence and I had just grabbed an Americano from the local Bucks. I was hoping to be inspired downtown, but nothing really caught my eye. Hey, quick trivia... Do you know how the Americano got it's name? During WWII while the American GI's were over in Europe, they would sometimes get espressos. Many of them found that they were too strong, so they asked for water to be added to make it more like coffee. Hence, Americano! I usually like to add an extra shot to mine, so it's a stronger Americano ;-)

Oh, so I was walking downtown and wasn't inspired at all. So, there were some railroad tracks nearby and those are always pretty easy to get something decent. I think it's that you're able to make long diagonal lines in the frame which make the picture more interesting.

I took some of the tracks, and then saw a building with a bunch of graffiti. Inspired. The following pictures are of that building.

Android 365: Day Thirty-Eight

I was working on some various random things this morning. I didn't particularly want to go outside, but when I went downstairs to make some coffee, I suddenly had the urge to go and photograph the rain hitting the lake. So, I finished some uploads I had going on and let my coffee finish brewing. Then I poured it in a to go cup and started loading up the 4Runner.

I had a particular shot in mind, so I packed up some flashes and stands, pocket wizards, some umbrella's, and my (other) camera. I'll post the photo taken with that camera as well, just know that there are two photos posted for today. One is with my camera phone and the other is with my Nikon D700. I'm not trying to cheat, just thought I'd share.

My intent for the trip was to get a photo with the D700, and then I wondered what the Droid could do. I have to say, I'm actually impressed with what it got. If I was able to edit it further, I think it could actually look pretty nice.

Android 365: Day Thirty-Seven

Happy Easter!

I've wanted to take photos of this small airfield before and this wasn't exactly the way I wanted to go about it, but it will definitely get a revisit later on. I really want to take some photos of a plane on the grass runway. Today, I was hurting for a photo, since the day was pretty busy, so on the way home we stopped by and I took some photos of the plane in it's hangar.
